Promotions within your Red Tent

You may find that issues of money and the promotion of services come to the surface and need to be addressed within your Red Tent. Often some of the women who help to hold and attend Red Tents have related offerings that they do charge for, either as a practitioner or as part of a business they run or work for. Sometimes, indeed, you may be asked to, or feel that you want to, promote these offerings.

However, if your invitations or circles become focused on one or more other offerings, we have found that this can detract from the spirit and intention of the Red Tent which is – for us, at least – about creating a shared, open space for all. We suggest, therefore, that you consider finding a way to do this that doesn’t interfere with the intention or main space of your Red Tent. Obviously we don’t want to prevent women from sharing their skills and talents and discourage them from making a living, but in our experience it is best to keep both the invitations and communications about the Red Tent and the sharing during the circle itself free from promotion, advertising or services. Women are then of course free to share about their work and offerings during social time or perhaps you may wish to provide a special place for that sharing at the end of your Red Tents or through another form of connection between the women who attend them.
